Ahmed Shehzad cries like a child on Live show after brutal PSL auction humiliation

Out-of-favour Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has not been picked by any PSL franchise since 2020, which led to humiliation for the batter who had once played in national colours. He then quit PSL and refused to put his name in the PSL draft. Speaking on the same issue, he has blamed the board for not seeking clarity from him.

Pakistan players have never backed away from criticising their own board due to several mistreatments. Especially with the growing prominence of social media and several other public speaking platforms, these voices have come forward and reached the masses.

Out-of-favour Pakistani cricketer, Ahmed Shehzad's snub from the PSL has been a central issue for the last 5 years after the end of every PSL draft auction. Shehzad, who formerly played a crucial role in the 2019 win for the Quetta Gladiators, was not picked to feature for any PSL franchise after 2020.

"My name makes rounds on social media amid the 500 players who feature in PSL drafts," Ahmed Shehzad

While Ahmed Shehzad was questioned on how he feels when he witnesses his peers still continuing to play in the PSL and him not being considered, he quickly remarked that though he feels happy for them, he is grieved by his own state.

Adding to this, Shehzad remarked that there are several players who play in the PSL, nearly 500 players, but only a handful of them get the hype like him. Every time ahead of the PSL auction, the fans build campaigns backing Shehzad and eagerly await his return to the PSL.

Citing his crazy fanbase, Ahmed Shehzad said, "500 players play in the PSL; however, I do not see their names anywhere, but there are campaigns on my name. However, despite this, no one just keeps aside the egos and comes and has a word with me."

Ahmed Shehzad banned from PSL?

Ahmed Shehzad has accused the Pakistan cricket board of not giving clarity to the franchise on his stand and also for not talking it out with him and resolving the issues that ever existed.

"When the new teams came in and there were conversations from their end, one of the teams knew that the PCB had put a ban on me. They are unaware of the reality; while some think that I have retired from the league on my own, some have the idea of me being banned from the PSL. They have absolutely no clarity from any end," remarked Shehzad.

"Like Babar Azam had eyes on him while playing in the BBL. People would have also watched the PSL if I had been part of the league. Some would have watched out of hatred, some out of love and some would have watched me bat neutrally," he promises capital to the PSL from both viewership and commercials.

Ahmed Shehzad went on to cite Babar Azam as his junior and claimed that, considering his immense experience in the sport, he could have brought along a leadership role to any side he would have been picked to play.

After having made all these statements, the out-of-favour Pakistani opener almost had tears in his eyes as he remembered that the worst moment for him was when his 9-year-old son wanted him to play, but he was no longer a part of any cricket in Pakistan.

Shehzad said with a heavy voice, "My 9-year-old son wanted me to play." He mentioned his son wants to witness him play now, as when he last saw him play, he was too young to have any memory of it.

Lastly, he concluded, saying that for a player like him who has made such tough calls, it gets difficult to sideline the self-respect and approach anyone from his end. However, had the PCB made an advancement, he would have surely kept their word and returned to play in the PSL.
