Alastair Cook demands 'Unwritten Agreement' from India and England before Test series
Former England skipper Alastair Cook who led England to the Test series win in India in 2012 has expressed his concerns about England’s ‘lack of match preparation’ as they gear up for a lengthy five-match Test series against India.
The Test series is set to commence on January 25 with the first Test to be played in Hyderabad followed by Tests in Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala.
The England team under Ben Stokes has not lost a single Test series and Rohit Sharma boasts the same record as the Indian skipper of not losing a Test series.
However, it is going to be a difficult challenge for England as the hosts have won 16 consecutive series after losing against England in 2012. Alastair Cook led the England side to a 2-1 victory against India in 2012 and now he has highlighted the problem that England will face in India.
In his column, on ‘The Sunday Times’, Alastair Cook explained the problem that England will face against India. He highlighted the lack of match preparation for England as one of the main problems that they will face against the hosts.
Alastair Cook also recalled the three warm-up matches against Formidable opponents who challenged the England Team ahead of the Test series in 2012-13 and then went on to win the Test series.
“The problem England will have is a lack of match preparation,” Cook remarked. He advocated for more practice matches, stating, “It would be good if there was some sort of unwritten agreement between countries to put on decent practice matches in decent conditions for touring teams.”
