Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has reacted to young pacer Shaheen Afridi‘s heartfelt note regarding their verbal spat in one of the matches of the ongoing PSL 2021.

The Pakistani duo was involved in a heated argument during the 23rd match of the tournament between Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars.

In the 19th over of Quetta’s innings, Shaheen sent down a bouncer that hit Sarfaraz Ahmed on his helmet and went towards the third man, and he ran a quick single. While walking at the non-striker’s end, preparing for the impending concussion test, Sarfaraz Ahmed was seen gesturing at Shaheen to tone down the aggression.

However, the speedster wasn’t impressed with the batsman’s suggestion and then charged towards Sarfaraz Ahmed for an altercation, which the batter moved away from quickly.

The umpires and other players including senior statesman Mohammad Hafeez pacified the situation keeping both the stalwarts at a distance of each other. Though no strict action was taken, the match referee issued a warning to both the players.

You are the little brother to me: Sarfaraz Ahmed

Shaheen Afridi copped some criticism for apparently disrespecting a former Pakistan captain. He then put out a note on Twitter, in which he said that he “should have stayed quiet in respect of” Sarfaraz Ahmed, who he says is the “pride of all of us”.

The 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman then reacted in a positive way to the youngster’s message. He assured the pacer that everything is fine between the two, and their on-field tussle will remain on the field only. He also heaped praise on Afridi saying that the fast bowler is a star of his national team as well.

“It’s all good bro. Whatever happened in the field it should stay in the field. You are the star of Pakistan too. May Allah give you more success in life. You are little brother to me .All is well,” replied Sarfaraz Ahmed.
