The Ranji trophy legend, former Mumbai captain, and Eight-time Ranji trophy champion Amol Muzumdar recently saved his team from getting humiliated. Notably, his team was at risk of being deboarded from an Air India flight due to excess baggage which was set to head towards Mumbai from Muscat, Oman.

Amol Muzumdar has several times helped his team to come out of difficult situations on the cricket field. However this time off the field he made sure that his team don’t get in trouble. Muzumdar paid excess baggage charges of 800 Riyal in the airport and after that team was allowed to board the flight. Other than Amol Muzumdar the manager of team Mumbai Arman Mallick, also paid 200 Riyal.

“Amol Muzumdar withdrew 800 riyals, and I had 200 riyals. We paid the excess baggage amount”: Arman Mallick

The manager of team Mumbai Arman Mallick wrote an email to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and clearly mentioned everything that happened.

“Our team had excess baggage while on tour to Oman, but in Mumbai, Mr Satish Samant helped us to clear it without paying a single rupee. At the time of return, our team had the same problem of extra excess weight of 165kg. Ignoring our request, the Airport Air India Oman authority (showed the) guidelines to deboard the whole team from the flight,” TOI reported.

“Then I called CS Nayak (Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Executive secretary) and Sanjay Naik (MCA secretary) for their help and advice. Both instructed me to pay the money (excess baggage charge) which was 1000 Omani riyal and board the flight. Since no one had such a big amount, Amol Muzumdar withdrew 800 riyals, and I had 200 riyals. We paid the excess baggage amount. Therefore, it’s requested to look into the matter and do the needful.”
