Andrew Brownlee has made history by becoming the oldest man to debut in international cricket at the age of 62 years and 145 days. As reported by Wisden, Andrew Brownlee achieved this milestone when he took the field for the Falkland Islands in a T20 International (T20I) match against Costa Rica on March 10, held in Guacima, Costa Rica.
By making his international debut at the age of 62 years and 145 days, Brownlee broke the previous record set by Osman Goker, who played his first international match for Turkey at 59 years and 181 days against Romania in August 2019.

In his short international career, Brownlee has so far played three T20I matches, scoring a total of six runs. He remained out in two of his three innings. The right-arm medium-pacer has also bowled only one over so far and is yet to take his first wicket in international cricket.
With this achievement, Brownlee became the first male cricketer to make his international debut after turning 60. He joined a list of the oldest debutants in different formats of the game, including England’s James Southerton, who played his first Test match at 49 years and 119 days, and the Netherlands' N.E. Clarke, who made his One-Day International (ODI) debut at 47 years and 240 days.
India’s Rustomji Jamshedji among those history-makers
Pakistan’s Miran Bakhsh and India’s Rustomji Jamshedji were also among the oldest players to make their debuts in international cricket after 60 years. However, Brownlee’s main role in the team is to help the Falkland Islands to develop their players, especially bowlers, while being around them.
However, there have been a lot of leagues going around the world for retired cricketers, where they have been showcasing their talent and reliving their playing days. Recently, the International Masters League (IML) saw the past generation of heroes entertaining the fans, like Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar.

India Masters made history by winning the first-ever International Masters League (IML) 2025 title. They defeated West Indies Masters by six wickets in the final on Sunday, bringing back the excitement of cricket’s golden era.
Last month, India’s oldest Test cricketer, Dattajirao Gaekwad, passed away in Vadodara at the age of 95 due to age-related health issues. Gaekwad, who was the former Indian captain, was in the ICU for almost two weeks before breathing his last.
He played 11 Test matches for India between 1952 and 1961 and had the honor of captaining the team during the 1959 tour of England. Gaekwad also amassed 3,139 runs at an impressive average of 47.56, scoring 14 centuries in the Ranji Trophy. In 2016, Gaekwad became India’s oldest living Test cricketer following the passing of Deepak Shodhan, who was 87 at the time.
