Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali lauded Indian Team management for the pitch they prepared for the first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. While citing the example of the Chennai pitch, he said that Pakistan management is illiterate about the pitch, which makes him angry.
India National Cricket Team produced a magnificent team effort in the first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. They won the opening game of the series by a massive margin of 280 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series as both batters and bowlers chipped in at crucial times in the game.
The pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai also was pretty good. The surface offered help to both fast bowlers and spinners. Apart from that, it was a decent batting pitch as well and the game ended in the morning session of Day 4 with Indian spinners wreaking havoc across Bangladesh's batting lineup.
Bangladesh, who played on flat tracks in Pakistan and won the Test series by 2-0, wasn't allowed by India to go ahead of the game apart from the morning session of Day 1. The Rohit Sharma-led side was clinical in every department of the game as they took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
Basit Ali was in awe of the performance by Indian bowlers, saying that they ticked all the boxes. He pointed out how both fast bowlers and spinners were in the game and lauded pitch curators for their preparations, adding that pitches in Pakistan make him angry. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:
"Bumrah picked 5 wickets in the game, Ashwin took 6 wickets, Jadeja clinched 5, Siraj took 2 and Akash Deep claimed 2 wickets. This is the account of 20 wickets. The bowlers ticked all the boxes. India played two spinners, keeping in mind that the ball would spin, and it happened.
"So the credit goes to the pitch curators, who know how to make a Test match surface. Not like us... I am not going to that side but I am filled with anger," said Basit Ali.
In our nation, they say there is no value in pitch - Basit Ali
Basit Ali further mentioned that there is no value of pitch in Pakistan and they are illiterate. He stressed that half of the problems of the Pakistan National Cricket Team would be over if they read the pitch well. He lashed out at the PCB, saying that they were sending wrong messages to young players. He elaborated:
"In our nation, they say there is no value of pitch. They are illiterate people. The ones who have played cricket with pride are there on the Board (PCB). This is why I get angry. What are you teaching to kids?
"50 per cent of the issue is solved if you read the pitch well, ask Sunil Gavaskar and Javed Miandad. But they don't understand," said Basit Ali.
India have taken a 1-0 lead in the series and now would be keen to win the second game of the series. The match will take place on 27th September at Green Park in Kanpur.
