England National Cricket Team have announced its new head coach in the form of Stephen Fleming. The former New Zealand National Cricket Team captain will be taking charge from the South Africa tour in December. After the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) appointed Fleming as head coach, Ollie Robinson has shared his views on working under the new head coach.
Ollie Robinson feels that the Three Lions and the pacer are excited to work with the new Test head coach. In recent times, there has been turmoil in the performances of the side in the traditional format, which might be improved under the new head coach. They will look to win Test matches in the upcoming series as they are winless in the last three.

While speaking to The i Paper, Ollie Robinson stated that it is exciting to welcome a new coach and he has not played or come across Stephen Fleming in franchise leagues as well. Ollie Robinson stated that he has heard good things about the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach and he is eagerly waiting to work under him.
“It’s always a novelty getting someone new in,” Robinson told The i Paper. “I haven’t come across Stephen Fleming but I’ve heard good things. So that will be interesting to see how he wants to play – another Kiwi. We’ll see how we go. It’s exciting.

Robinson said that a change in leadership always brings excitement, as players are eager to see how the new environment unfolds. Even though England are winless in their last three series, he thoroughly enjoyed playing under former Test head coach Brendon McCullum and former captain Ben Stokes.
“Whenever you get a change it’s always exciting just to see how it’s going to be, how the group’s going to go. It’s about winning games of cricket at the end of the day. I think we maybe went away from that too much but playing with Baz and Ben was so fun and enjoyable. It’s a shame that’s finished but I’m excited someone new is coming in.”
England eyes Pakistan series to get first win since 2025
Ollie Robinson returned in the Test series against New Zealand, and in the first match he was named the Player of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance. He picked seven wickets in his first Test appearance in more than two years. But he had knee soreness, which kept him out of the second game and also the last game as well.
England has lined up 10 Tests before next summer's home Ashes, as they have not won the Ashes against Australia since 2015, and winning back the Ashes will be Fleming's first major task after being appointed as the head coach.
They will face Pakistan in the upcoming Test series set to begin in August and would like to win their first Test series post-2025, as they last won against Zimbabwe in a one-off Test. They were thumped by Australia, drew the series against India, and lost to the Kiwis 2-1 despite winning the first Test.
