Anshul Kamboj has made his India ODI debut against West Indies in the third match of the series in Chandigarh on Saturday. The Haryana pacer received his India cap from Virat Kohli before walking out for his first international appearance in white-ball cricket.

Kamboj's India debut comes just days after he was part of the India A setup in Puducherry. He was called up to the senior squad midway through the second unofficial Test against Australia A and has now been handed his first ODI appearance for India.

Anshul Kamboj replaced injured Prasidh Krishna in India squad

Kamboj was originally part of India A's playing XI for the second unofficial Test against Australia A, which began on September 30. He made an immediate impact with the ball, taking 3/34 from 17.3 overs as Australia A were dismissed for 358.

However, his India call-up meant he had to leave the ongoing game. Anshul Kamboj bowled only two overs in Australia's second innings on Thursday before departing the ground and joining the senior team. Praful Hinge subsequently replaced him in the India A XI.

The 25-year-old was added to India's ODI squad after Prasidh Krishna suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. Prasidh bowled only five overs and finished with 1/45 before leaving the field.

Anshul Kamboj brings strong domestic record

Kamboj has built an impressive record across formats in domestic cricket. He has taken 113 wickets in 37 first-class matches at an average of 24.06, while his List A record includes 56 wickets from 35 matches at 22.41.

He has also claimed 76 wickets in 55 T20 matches at 20.92. His IPL record stands at 31 wickets from 25 matches, including 21 wickets in 14 appearances for Chennai Super Kings during IPL 2026.

His India debut therefore comes after a strong run across domestic and franchise cricket, with the opportunity arriving sooner than expected after Prasidh's injury.
