Indian cricket team superstar Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have been a power couple since their dating days, and even when they were not married, the Bollywood actress was one of the influential personalities in the dressing room for some of the national players, including KL Rahul.

KL Rahul, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, has recently recalled how Anushka, who is married Kohli in 2017, supported him when he had an unforgettable Test debut for India against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne back in 2014.

KL Rahul revealed that Anushka attended his debut Test match at the MCG, and even she later visited his room to offer encouragement after she noticed how the right-hander was dejected to make a mark in his first game for Team India in the traditional format of the game.

The Karnataka star, who considers Virat Kohli and Anushka his close friends, shared a heartfelt story with his fans during his recent appearance on the talk show ‘Open House with Renil’. He appreciated Virushka’s support during a tough start to testing his career in Australia.

KL Rahul said on the chat show: “Both of them have been very good to me, and I have a great story to tell you. Anushka was at the match in Australia, and after I got out, she saw that I was down and dejected while my thoughts were all over.

She came to my room and insisted that I shouldn’t be alone or dwell on my performance. She and Virat offered to take me out for dinner or sightseeing.”

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter also revealed how he became “third wheeled” on one of Virat and Anushka’s dinner dates, and it helped him when he was going through a tough phase.

He said that the couple often shared their stories, and it helped him to regain confidence after Test debut failure.

Rahul further noted, “I third wheeled on one of the dinner dates. Both Virat and Anushka shared their stories, describing moments when they had endured failure in their careers. That made me feel like I wasn’t the only one who ruined his first impression.”

In the end, Rahul thanked the couple for helping him during the tough phase and revealed that he is still in touch with Anushka.

He signed off by saying, “It was nice of Anushka to do it, as I didn’t know how she could understand what I was going through. We still stay in touch and exchange a few messages, although Anushka’s are about my dog mostly.”

Notably, Rahul and Kohli both are currently on the Sri Lanka tour with the Men in Blue for the ODI series. India will face Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI on Wednesday, August 7, in Colombo.
