Virat Kohli's retirement talks went public a few days back
Kohli's retirement talks became public a few days back when the reports claimed that the batter had conveyed to the BCCI about his retirement. However, it was also learned that the governing body was doing its best to convince the batter to play, at least for the England series.
However, it now seemed that the BCCI had failed to convince him as he announced his retirement from Test cricket. Virat Kohli will go down as one of the best batters to have played red-ball cricket, as the legacy that he left will remain unmatched, especially in overseas conditions.
Kohli played a massive role for the team in the longest format of the game as he scored truckloads of runs. The premier batter also ended as India's most successful Test skipper, winning every Test series at home and also winning games away from home.
As Kohli retired from Test cricket, his wife, Anushka Sharma, posted a heartfelt message. She mentioned that while everyone will talk about records, she will always remember the tears that he never showed and the battles that no one saw.

Anushka Sharma pointed out how much Test cricket took away from Virat Kohli but was quick to quip, saying that with every series, he came back a little wiser and a little humbler. Taking to his Instagram account, she said:
"They'll talk about the records and the milestones — but I'll remember the tears you never showed, the battles no one saw, and the unwavering love you gave this format of the game. I know how much all this took from you. After every Test series, you came back a little wiser, a little humbler — and watching you evolve through it all has been a privilege."
