Anushka Sharma’s Jhulan Goswami Biopic Expected To Start Filming By End Of 2021- Report

Indian women bowling legend Jhulan Goswami’s biopic with Anushka Sharma playing the lead role was announced in January 2020. The actress, who is also the better half of India captain Virat Kohli, was seen with Goswami at the Eden Gardens wearing the India jersey for some photoshoot, leading to speculations that she was playing the lead role in the biopic.

However, with the COVID-19 pandemic hitting the country, no news came out about the progress of the biopic. Anushka Sharma, meanwhile, got pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, which she and Virat named Vamika, and it seems Anushka is ready to come back to the shooting floors if the report of Bollywood Hungama is to be believed.

The Jhulan Goswami Film Is Under Development And In The Scripting Stage: Bollywood Hungama Report

Despite there not been any official announcement about the development of the film, a report in Bollywood Hungama, suggests that the movie is in the scripting stage and is expected to start rolling by the end of this year or later.

As per the portal, “It is not shelved for sure. The film is under development and in the scripting stage. Once the script is approved, the director would be finalized after which Anushka would start the preparation. And only then the film will go on floors.”

“Anushka is enjoying motherhood right now and she and Vamika are also accompanying Virat on his cricket tours. So the film won’t go on floors before 2021-end. But it’ll definitely be something to watch out for. Jhulan’s journey has been inspiring and moreover, Anushka is sure to do complete justice to the role,” the source added.

Jhulan Goswami is a former captain of the Indian team and a legit bowling legend in the women’s cricket world. Back in August 2018, she announced her retirement from WT20Is. She has multiple records to her name and she won the ICC Women’s Player Of The Year in 2007 and the M A Chidambaram Trophy for Best Women Cricketer in 2011.

On the field, Jhulan has 41 wickets in 11 Test matches and 56 wickets in 68 T20 matches. In 189 ODIs, Jhulan has 236 wickets with a best of 6/31 and she was the first bowler to pick 200 wickets in women’s ODI matches. Overall in her career, Jhulan has picked up 333 wickets and she is the sole woman to have picked up more than 300 wickets in women’s cricket.
