Afghanistan Premier League (APL) organisers are reportedly planning to execute something huge that the cricket world has never seen before. According to some of the latest reports, the APL organisers are trying to get multiple reputed personalities to get on board as investors.

The previously formed Afghanistan Premier League abruptly ended soon after its inception. The newly formed APL has been designed to maintain an out-and-out professional attire, and to make their presence bigger in comparison to other exciting franchise leagues across the globe, the organisers are reportedly trying to secure some top investments before the first season of the team.

APL is likely to get multiple reputed investors

Vijay Tagore, a sports journalist, on October 7, made some massive claims through multiple 'X' posts. According to his social media posts, globally reputed investors like the Adani Group and the Glazer family are in touch with the league organisers.

The Glazer family is famously known for their ownership of the England Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United. But they have expanded their wings into cricket as well. If the claims are to be believed, then Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are also in touch with the APL organisers.

"The Afghan Premier League (APL) organisers claim to be in talks with some big names in the world of sport and business, including the Glazer family and Adani Group, who own teams in ILT20. Even Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are supposed to be interested," according to one of the 'X' posts.

Why is APL looking for big names as investors?

Vijay Tagore, in their 'X' post, in support of his previous claims about the connection between the APL officials and the top investors, shared a byte of a top official involved with the newly formed franchise league of the Afghanistan cricket team.

"Founding ownership talks are live with category-defining sports & tech capital — kind of names that reshape a league before the first ball. We’re closing this week. First movers own the story,” said Bhairav Shant, co-founder of ITW Unverse, confirming discussions with big names, as it is shared in the social media post.

Franchise owners are to be confirmed

Vijay, in a string of posts, said that among the 5 participating franchises, only Kandahar's ownership has been confirmed, leaving four franchises without any investors. Who will be the owners of these four franchises? That's been a question that is making the scene more interesting.

"The five-team league is scheduled to begin on December 27 in the UAE. Three teams were reportedly sold previously, of which only one (Kandahar) has been confirmed so far. The other four are up for grabs, and the new owners will be known this week," the social media post reads.

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), in its official media release, previously mentioned that Kabul, Kandahar, Balkh, Paktia, and Nangarhar will be the teams, which will represent the iconic Afghan cricketing regions and centers.
