Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh etched his name in the record books by becoming the first male bowler from India to claim 100 T20I wickets. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) player also became the fastest pacer to reach 100 T20I wickets during the Asia Cup 2025 match in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19.
The 26-year-old player was included in the playing XI for the first time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. Arshdeep replaced Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested ahead of the Super Four stage, set to begin on Saturday, September 20. Notably, the Men in Blue had picked only one specialist pacer in the first two games.
Arshdeep Singh Creates History By Dismissing Vinayak Shukla
Arshdeep Singh had a rare off day during the match, going wicketless in his first three overs while defending a total of 188 in the final group stage game. The Oman batters showed resilience and kept the contest alive throughout.
Oman were 155/3 at the end of the 19th over, needing 34 runs to win. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Arshdeep for the 20th over. Oman had a slim chance of snatching victory.
Arshdeep dismissed Vinayak Shukla on the very first delivery. The batter misjudged a rising delivery, and substitute fielder Rinku Singh took the catch at mid-wicket. With this wicket, Arshdeep completed his 100th T20I wicket for India.

Arshdeep achieved his 100th T20I wicket in just his 64th match. He has taken 100 wickets at an average of 18.49 and an economy rate of 8.31, with best figures of 4/9.

Among active Indian T20I bowlers, Hardik Pandya (95) and Jasprit Bumrah (92) are close to the milestone. Yuzvendra Chahal (96 wickets) is at the second spot in India’s highest wicket-takers list.
