The 26-year-old India National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh delivered a sensational performance in the third T20I of the five-match series against the Australia National Cricket Team.
Arshdeep Singh's remarkable show with the ball ensured that the Suryakumar Yadav-led India National Cricket Team registered a comprehensive 5-wicket victory at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Sunday, November 2.
Arshdeep Singh takes a brilliant 3-wicket haul
The left-arm pacer from Punjab has been quite unfortunate as he has not gotten the game time that he actually deserves.
Arshdeep is regarded as one of the best bowlers in the world currently, but he has not been given a consistent run of chances by the Gautam Gambhir-led team management.
He would fit into the playing XI of any team in the world across formats, but in the Indian team, he has mostly warmed the bench for the last few months. The Punjab pacer has been part of India's squad across formats, but he has not been able to find a place in the playing XI.
After being benched in the main matches of the Asia Cup 2025, Arshdeep Singh was snubbed from the playing XI in the first two T20I matches against Australia in Canberra and Melbourne, with Harshit Rana being picked over him.
Meanwhile, he was finally brought into the playing XI for the third T20I, and he dismissed Travis Head and Josh Inglis in his first two overs. He also dismissed Marcus Stoinis and returned with the bowling figures of 3/35.
I’ve just been working on my process - Arshdeep Singh
After winning the Player of the Match award, Arshdeep Singh spoke to Adam Gilchrist, and during the chat, he said that he has just been working on his process and trusting his abilities. He said:
"I’ve just been working on my process, trusting my skills, and executing the plans I’ve practised. It feels great to contribute when I get the chance.
Arshdeep also made it pretty clear that he is not scared of bowling to explosive batters; instead, he enjoys bowling to them. He said:
"Yes (enjoying bowling to aggressive batters), definitely. When someone is coming hard at you, there’s always a chance to pick up wickets."
When Bumrah is bowling from the other end, batters often take more risks against me - Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep further said that having Jasprit Bumrah as his bowling partner does wonders for him and helps him get wickets. He explained:
"And when someone like Bumrah is bowling from the other end, batters often take more risks against me, that gives me wicket-taking opportunities."
He added that he is enjoying his bowling at the moment, both with the new ball and the old ball.
"I just try to enjoy my bowling and keep my plans simple. No matter the situation - powerplay or death - I just focus on execution and stick to what I’ve practised," the pacer further stated.
