Arshdeep Singh faces injury scare ahead of Australia tour

Arshdeep Singh, after returning from the Asia Cup, is currently featuring for India A in the ongoing home series against Australia A. In the ongoing third unofficial ODI, Arshdeep Singh shared the new ball with Harshit Rana.

Both bowlers went on to pick two wickets each, with Arshdeep dismissing the two Australia A openers. However, after having bowled his first spell of 5 overs, he was seen limping, holding his knees near the third man boundary.

"Something’s up with Arshdeep for sure; it’s either his side or his back. He’s bowling on for now, but takes a pause every now and then in discomfort. Arshdeep went off the field," reported Abhishek Saini from Sportstar.

Arshdeep Singh to replace Jasprit Bumrah in India's ODI squad for Australia tour

Being picked for the India tour of Australia ODI as well as the T20I squad, Arshdeep Singh is all set to finally get game time. Jasprit Bumrah, the ace Indian pacer, has once again been rested from ODIs, considering his workload.

Bumrah has been starring for India continuously over all series since the England tour and hence has been dropped from the 3 ODIs, but is all set to play the 5-match T20I series. With the ODI World Cup to be played in 2027, Bumrah's focus has been kept on only the shortest format due to the ICC T20 World Cup to be played in 2026.

Arshdeep might hence might pair with Mohammed Siraj. However, the likes of Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna have also been picked for the One-dayers against Australia.

Will Arshdeep Singh return to India's T20I XI after being neglected in the Asia Cup?

Ever since Gautam Gambhir was appointed the Indian coach, he has repeatedly snubbed Arshdeep from the Indian T20I bowling side. Though he is India's most successful pacer in the shortest format, he was snubbed from India's main XI in the Asia Cup.

However, this time around, since the T20I series will be played in Australian conditions, India might not be going in with multiple spin options and hence would consider bringing in Arshdeep Singh alongside Jasprit Bumrah as the frontline pacers in the side. The upcoming series, hence, seems a crucial series from Arshdeep's point of view.
