The 23-year-old New Zealand National Cricket Team batting all-rounder Rachin Ravindra played a career-defining knock in his ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup debut match against England National Cricket Team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, October 5.

Rachin Ravindra, who was born on November 18, 1999, is an Indian-origin New Zealand cricketer. He got the opportunity to bat at the No.3 position as star batter Kane Williamson was not fit to play the match.

Rachin came to the crease in the second over itself as Sam Curran cleaned up the Kiwi opener Will Young for a golden duck. The 23-year-old looked settled in the middle and played an attacking brand of cricket.

He took the English bowlers to cleaners and smashed them all over the park while playing some beautiful-looking strokes. The likes of Gautam Gambhir, Ravi Shastri, and Deep Dasgupta were in awe of the Rachin’s performance and they lavished rich praise on the young batter on-air.

Rachin Ravindra smashed his half-century off 36 balls and then he was involved in a historic partnership with Devon Conway as the duo recorded New Zealand’s highest partnership in men’s ODI World Cup history. They went past a 168-run stand between Lee Germon and Chris Harris against Australia in 1996.

After registering a historic partnership, Rachin Ravindra kept batting brilliantly and he completed his ton off 82 balls, breaking his batting partner Devon Conway’s record for the fastest century for New Zealand in the World Cup.

Rachin Ravindra, who is named after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, became the fifth BlackCaps batter to hit a ton on his World Cup debut after Glenn Turner (1975), Nathan Astle (1996), Scott Styris (2003) and Devon Conway (2023). He also became the youngest New Zealand player to score a century in World Cups.

Rachin Ravindra remained unbeaten at 123 runs off 96 balls, with 11 fours and 5 sixes, and guided New Zealand to a 9-wicket win over England alongside Devon Conway, who played a spectacular knock of 152 runs off 121 balls, with 19 fours and 3 sixes.
