England fast bowler Mark Wood believes that his fellow teammate Jofra Archer could regain his full fitness before the start of the much-anticipated Ashes series at home. Mark Wood believes that Jofra Archer will make his comeback to the England Test team like a champion player for the upcoming Ashes series.

Jofra Archer is currently representing the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2023. The right-arm pacer made his debut in their tournament opener but missed a few matches due to injury. Archer made his comeback against the Punjab Kings before missing their most recent game against the Gujarat Titans.

I Can Sympathize With Him Quite A Bit – Mark Wood

Speaking to Sky Sports, Mark Wood has backed Jofra Archer’s selection for the Ashes 2023, saying the Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer has a minor setback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Wood believes that Archer will undergo proper treatment to be mentally and physically ready for the marquee series.

“I feel for Jofra actually and I can sympathize with him quite a bit there. You feel like you’re just getting back and then you have a little setback and things happen. He’s a champion player and I’m sure he’ll come back and be a champion again,” said Mark Wood.

Australia Are A World-Class Team – Mark Wood

The 33-year-old termed Australia a world-class team and said that England performed well wherever doubts were raised about their team.

“I think Australia are a world-class team and I think it will be a great series. I wouldn’t like to predict and say it’s going to be one way or another,” he added.

“What I will say is that everyone has doubted this England team before, saying ‘Oh, they won’t do it against this team’, or ‘They’ll struggle against this team.’ To win in Pakistan, I think, was a huge tick in the box,” he concluded.

England will host the most anticipated five-match Ashes series, with the first Test scheduled to begin on June 16 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The second test will be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground, the third at Headingley in Leeds, the fourth at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, and the final match at Kennington Oval in London.
