The veteran England pacer James Anderson provided an update on his injury and said that he would regain his full fitness in a couple of weeks. James Anderson expressed his frustration over being injured and said that his injury was minor. He was optimistic about being available for the Ashes series 2023 at home.

The 40-year-old was injured during Lancashire’s game against Somerset on May 11 due to a mild groin strain. The right-arm pacer walked off the field on Day 1 of the match, and he didn’t take part in the remaining days of the match. However, he was included in the 15-member squad for the one-off Test against Ireland.

I’m Not Worried About It – James Anderson

Speaking to the BBC Tailenders’ podcast, James Anderson revealed that he needs a couple of weeks to gain his full fitness. The veteran pacer said that he would keep him fresh for the rest of the summer.

“I’m not worried about it. It’s obviously not great getting injured, but it’s probably the best outcome for what it is, because it’s a low-grade thing. and, I think, in a couple of weeks, I’ll be back to full fitness,” James Anderson said.

“It’s frustrating because you always want to feel good and get enough bowling in before a series, and you want to be fresh, so it’s now about trying to plan the best route through this summer,” he added.

Don’t Want To Risk Anything By Making It Worse – James Anderson

James Anderson said that he doesn’t want to rush him with the selection ahead of the Ashes series, despite being part of the team for the Test match against Ireland.

“I felt like I needed to play this game, so it’s not ideal, but I’m not stressed about it. I’m just taking it day by day and seeing how it goes because obviously, I don’t want to risk anything by making it worse. I’m more confident I can get this one right and give the Ashes a right good crack,” he concluded.

England will host the Ashes series, with the first Test beginning at Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 16. The second test will take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground, the third at Headingley in Leeds, the fourth at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, and the final match at Kennington Oval in London.
