Star Australian batter and vice-captain Steve Smith believes winning an Ashes series in England would be a huge accomplishment to tick off his bucket list. Steve Smith believes that this series could be his last Test series in England and that he wants to finish the Ashes 2023 with a victory.

Steve Smith will be part of the Sussex team in the County Championship as a warm-up for the Ashes 2023, which will begin on June 16. The right-handed batter had a great record in Ashes 2019, scoring 774 runs in seven innings with an average of 110.57, including three centuries and three fifties.

Steve Smith highlighted that they came close to winning the Ashes series in 2019 but failed to do so. Australia managed to draw the series at 2-2.

“It would be a huge one to tick off the bucket list I suppose. We haven’t been able to do it, but we got close last time and were unable to get over the line,” Steve Smith said.

He’s Quite Tall, He Hit Some Good Areas – Steve Smith

Steve Smith discussed facing Ollie Robinson during the nets while playing Sussex and said that he was a better bowler than in the last Ashes series in Australia.

“Ollie bowled to me yesterday (Monday) actually. I left one, the third ball, and he knocked me over (bowled him), so that wasn’t ideal.”
