Sri Lanka have been jolted early heading into the Asia Cup 2023 as left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2023 after picking up an injury in a practice game.
The Sri Lankan bowling outfit looks uncertain now with Wanindu Hasaranga injured. Lahiru Kumara looks unavailable for the tournament as his Dusmantha Chameera as reported by ESPN Cricinfo.
Madushanka had torn an oblique muscle during a practice game on Friday and might even be unavailable for the World Cup. Hasaranga who was just named in the Player Of The Tournament in the LPL 2023 is also recovering from a grade two strain in the thigh and might not be available for the tournament. He looks unlikely to play a part in the group stages even if he plays in the tournament.

Sri Lanka are looking for replacements for their injured pacers. Kasun Rajitha, Pramod Madushan, and Matheesha Pathirana might be the pacers available for the tournament. However, all of them have less experience compared to the likes of Chameera and Kumara.
Dunith Wellalage, the left-arm spinner might replace Hasaranga if he is not fit in time. The SLC may also call up allrounder Dushan Hemantha. The Lankan bowling attack will look very thin in case all these bowlers miss the tournament.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is yet to announce its squad for the continental tournament. The Lankans are placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh and Afghanistan. They face Bangladesh in their first game on August 31 in Pallekele.
Sri Lanka under Dasun Shanaka is the defending champions of the Asia Cup and needs to finish in the top two to advance through to the Super 4s.
