Asia Cup 2023: Dinesh Karthik Snubs Shaheen Shah Afridi To Pick His Favorite Pakistan Pacer

Veteran batsman Dinesh Karthik has lavished praise on Haris Rauf and has hailed the Pakistan pacer as one of the best white-ball bowlers in the world at present.

Haris Rauf has not looked back since replacing Dale Steyn in the Melbourne Stars squad for the 2019-20 Big Bash League season. An unknown name till then, he hit the ground running in BBL and has not looked back since then. After his impressive performance in the BBL, he earned his maiden Pakistan call-up and is now an indispensable part of Pakistan’s ODI and T20I teams now.

He is currently in England, plying his trade for Welsh Fire in the ongoing The Hundred. Dinesh Karthik is also a part of the tournament as a commentator and has seen two brilliant performances from Haris Rauf so far. In his first game of the competition, Rauf conceded just 15 runs in 10 balls while giving away only 27 runs and picking up 3 wickets in 20 balls in his second game.

Dinesh Karthik praises Haris Rauf:

With Haris Rauf impressing in The Hundred and further enhancing his reputation, Dinesh Karthik recalled his inspirational journey in the game and heaped praise on him. The wicketkeeper-batsman pointed out how fast Rauf has progressed in his career.

“Few years ago he was playing tennis ball cricket. Gets picked up by the Qalandars, becomes a part of their team, and academy, and then goes on to play the league and then has obviously gone on to do so well for Pakistan. He is arguably one of the better white ball bowlers going around in world cricket now, especially at the death,” Dinesh Karthik said on Sky Sports on the sidelines of the match.

Haris Rauf will be in India soon when Pakistan arrives in the country for the ICC World Cup 2023. He along with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah will form one of the most potent attacks in the World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 5.
