Pakistani pacer Usman Shinwari made a bold claim, saying that he doesn’t fear bowling to skipper Babar Azam in T20s. He although admitted that the current Pakistan captain is extremely dangerous in ODIs and Tests.
Babar Azam is one of the finest batters to have played from Pakistan. The current captain of the team has an unmatched class as he has set altogether a different standard. Despite being young, he’s compared with some of the greats of the game, which depicts nothing but his caliber as a batter.
It’s fair to say that Pakistan, which is concerned as the factory for producing fast bowlers, has produced an exception in Babar Azam, who is currently the leading batter in all three formats of the game and is breaking numerous records all the way, having broken many as well.
Usman Shinwari, who is currently one of the emerging Pakistan pacers, touted Babar Azam as his favorite player. He also rated him as dangerous in ODIs and Tests. Speaking on the Nadir Ali podcast, he explained:
“My favorite player is Babar Azam, without a doubt. However, I think that Babar is extremely dangerous in ODIs and Tests.”
Asia Cup 2023: I won’t feel much pressure against him – Usman Shinwari On bowling to Babar Azam in T20s
Usman Shinwari further went on to point out that Babar Azam plays conventional shots in T20s and is not unorthodox, which is why as a bowler it’s easy to bowl to him. He explained:
“In T20s, I won’t feel much pressure against him because he relies on conventional shots, and as a bowler, you don’t expect Babar to slog sweep a good length delivery or play an unorthodox shot out of nowhere for a six. For this reason, I won’t feel any danger bowling to him in T20s. But in Tests and ODIs, he remains my favorite batter.”
Babar Azam is currently playing in the Lanka Premier League and will soon represent Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023.
