Asia Cup 2023: New PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf approves hybrid model

There were quite a few issues related to the venue of the Asia Cup 2023 as BCCI wasn’t keen to send India to Pakistan due to security reasons. This led to quite a few arguments between BCCI and PCB over the venue of the tournament. It ultimately led Pakistan Cricket Board to propose a hybrid model, which suggested that the tournament will be played in Pakistan apart from the India games, which will be held at a neutral venue.

After much discussion, both the board concluded and ACC finalized the venues and dates for the tournament. Out of 13 games, 4 games will take place in Pakistan whereas 9 games will be played in Sri Lanka.

Najam Sethi after finalizing the Asia Cup venue was sidelined as the PCB Chairman and Zaka Ashraf took over charge. Many reports suggested the new chief isn’t keen on the hybrid model. But all the reports were quashed off when he recently gave a go-ahead to the hybrid model despite sports minister Ehsan Mazari being against the model.
