Right-handed batsman, KL Rahul’s fitness has been under the scanner for a long time, meanwhile, Rohit Sharma-led India have already started their six-day Preparatory Camp on Thursday (August 24th) at the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) in Alur.
In the camp, the fitness of the players who have recently taken part in the West Indies series will be the main focus. The Men in Blues team management is currently attentive toward team bonding before the start of the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.
Sanju Samson, Prasidh Krishna, and Jasprit Bumrah will be joining the camp late on Thursday since they will be coming from the Ireland series and will go through a few fitness tests by the doctors and then they will be starting their indoor training, and the rest of the team will be assigned into different groups and will start their outdoor training.
As per ESPNcricinfo, players who have not taken part in the West Indies tour were given a strict diet and gym chart two weeks back, since the team management doesn’t want any more injury problems in the team which can affect the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
However, according to ESPNcricinfo, KL Rahul, the star Indian wicketkeeper-batsman the doctors at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) have been closely keeping a check on the player since he complained about discomfort after one practice match.
KL Rahul is still not fully match fit and everyone will be looking forward to how the 31-year-old will be recovering from his injury and be a part of the first eleven. The Men in Blues are quite desperate right now since KL Rahul’s inclusion in the first eleven will help the middle order.
KL Rahul suffered a thigh injury during an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and was later left the field. Following this he went through surgery and was out of the crease for months.

While announcing the squad on Monday (August 21), the chief selector, Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Shreyas Iyer is fully match-fit, however, KL Rahul has suffered a niggle and can be included in the first eleven after two or three matches in the Asia Cup 2023.
“Shreyas Iyer has been declared completely fit. KL Rahul, in the last few days, not his original injury, but he has picked up a niggle,” Ajit Agarkar told.
India will start their Asia Cup 2023 voyage against Pakistan on Saturday (September 2nd) and the match will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
