Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Litton Das is all set to fly to Pakistan on September 4 as per reports in Cricket Pakistan. He will be joining his side ahead of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023.

Das missed Bangladesh’s opening game against Sri Lanka due to illness as per reports. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the tournament as reports circulated across different media outlets.

Now latest reports as per Cricket Pakistan say that the Bangladesh keeper-batter is all set to join his national squad for the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023.  Meanwhile, BCB President Nazmul Hassan said that he was surprised to learn that opener Litton Das is going to fly to Pakistan to join the Asia Cup team.

“First of all, I am not aware that Litton is going to Pakistan today. I did not hear it. I just inquired about his update today. If he goes to Pakistan, then I was supposed to know it,” Papon told reporters on Monday.

Litton Das To Travel To Lahore On September 4 Via Doha: BCB Official

Litton is scheduled to travel to Lahore via Doha tonight, according to a BCB official. The BCB President further said that he was not aware of Liton’s travel plans and that he should have been informed of them. He further said that the Bangladesh Cricket Board will need to get approval from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) before Das can join the national team.

“How will he go? Apart from BCB’s approval, there is a question of approval from ACC [Asian Cricket Council]. Today I talked with captain [Shakib Al Hasan], coach [Chandika Hathurusingha], selector Razzak [Abdur Razzak] and Jalal Bhai [cricket operations committee chairman Jalal Yunus] …they didn’t say anything. This is something new,” Papon added.

Bangladesh named Anamul Haque as Das’s replacement in their Asia Cup squad which means that he cannot be reinstated in the side immediately. If Bangladesh want him to be a part of the XI, they’ll have to do so as a substitute for a different player.

Previously Tamim Iqbal and Ebadot Hossain were ruled out of the Asia Cup 2023 with injuries. There is now a fresh injury concern to Mehedi Hasan Miraz who complained of a back problem after Bangladesh’s game against Afghanistan. The Tigers kept themselves alive in the tournament by bagging an 89-run win against Afghanistan in Lahore. The Tigers have played both their matches and are placed second with a handy NRR of +0.373.
