Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad has expressed his aspiration to secure the title for his team in the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup. Noor Ahmad emphasized that they possess a high-quality spin bowling attack to effectively utilize the conditions in the tournament.

The Asia Cup will be played in a hybrid model from August 30 to September 17. Pakistan, which had the hosting rights to the continental tournament, will hold the four matches. Sri Lanka will host the remaining matches, including the final match, in the tournament.

We Have A Very Strong Spin Attack – Noor Ahmad

In an interview with IANS, Noor Ahmad pointed out that the spin-friendly pitches in Sri Lanka will be helpful for Afghanistan, given their ‘very strong spin attack’.

“As a side, we will not just participate in the Asia Cup, but we will try to play some good cricket and win the Cup because we have a very strong spin attack. Also, most of our games will be played in Sri Lanka and we will definitely look to play some good cricket,” said Noor Ahmad.

Noor Ahmad is part of the Afghanistan team in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan. However, he hasn’t had the opportunity to play in the first two matches. There’s a chance he might feature in the final match, considering the series has already been lost.

It’s A Good Chance To Prepare – Noor Ahmad

Noor Ahmad highlighted that the team’s early arrival in Sri Lanka will provide them with an ideal opportunity to prepare well for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup.

“It’s a good chance to prepare yourself for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup, and we are doing good preparations. Our team came to Sri Lanka 15 days ago.”

“We will play good cricket. It’s all about the confidence you have in yourself. Every day I go to practice, I keep believing that I can get better. I’ll always try my best.”

The Afghan team qualified for the Super 4 Stage in the last two editions of the Asia Cup. The previous year’s tournament was played in a 20-over format as preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022. However, this year’s tournament will be played in a 50-over format.
