The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to implement a substantial increase in the salaries of male cricketers under central contracts for the upcoming 2023-24 season. This decision comes as a recognition of the players’ exceptional abilities and their pivotal role in representing the nation.

The central contracts of the Pakistan Men’s cricketers expired on June 30. However, the board did not offer new central contracts due to changes in PCB management. The new contract will be offered to the players, with additional benefits, including an increase in salary for the national cricketers.

PCB To Announce New Central Contracts

The experienced players have raised their concerns to be discussed with Zaka Ashraf, the recently appointed chairman of the PCB management committee. These matters include improved compensation and other issues, and the discussions have been ongoing for a considerable period of time.

Zaka Ashraf has recently appointed the Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), which will be headed by Misbah-ul-Haq. The committee will be responsible for discussing matters related to central contracts. Inzamam-ul-Haq, the newly appointed Chief Selector, has also shared his perspective on this issue.

Rules For Pakistan Players’ Participation In Overseas T20 Leagues

As per the reports, the PCB has decided to reintroduce the categorization of players in contracts. The players will be divided into three categories: ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ in the upcoming contracts. Last year, the board split the categorization of players in contracts between Test and white-ball players.

Pakistan cricketers falling under the ‘A’ category will be allowed to participate in a single T20 league per year, while those in the ‘B’ category can engage in two leagues annually. Cricketers classified under the ‘C’ category will have the chance to participate in a maximum of three leagues each year.

Captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi will be included in Category A, earning PKR 4.5 million per month. Players designated as Category B stand to receive PKR 3 million. In the last year, their red and white ball players were allocated PKR 1.1 and 0.95 million, respectively.
