Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli completed 15 years in his international career on August 18, 2023. It was 15 years ago on this very day that he made his international debut for India against Sri Lanka in Dambulla.

15 years after his debut, Kohli is now one of the most accomplished cricketers. With 76 international hundreds to his name, Kohli is second on the list of batters with the most international centuries after Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 100 international hundreds.

The Indian star is the winner of two ICC titles in 2011 and 2013. However, he never won one as a skipper. India’s loss in the 2019 semi-final remains the most vivid memory of Indian fans under Kohli’s captaincy. He then gave up on captaincy across formats at the end of 2021.

Taking to Twitter Kohli posted a tweet with the caption “forever grateful”.

Kohli is currently on a break from international cricket. He last played for India in the Test and ODI series against West Indies. The young Indian team under Hardik Pandya lost the T20I series without the likes of Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Indian team.

Both Kohli and Rohit will make a comeback in the Asia Cup. As per reports, India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad will be announced on August 21 with KL Rahul available for selection.

It is also expected that India’s ODI World Cup squad will be more or less selected from the same group of players who will be a part of the Asia Cup 2023.
