Former India bowler Venkatesh Prasad, on Tuesday (August 22), surprised the fans with his post for KL Rahul on X (formerly Twitter). The former bowler has been a very vocal critic of KL Rahul in recent times.

Venkatesh Prasad did not squander a single opportunity to take shots at KL Rahul as the latter struggled to do well with the bat during the Test series against Australia earlier this year. The former cricketer also alleged that KL Rahul gets picked in the Test team not on the basis of his performance but because of favoritism. Venkatesh Prasad was also involved in a war of words with former cricketer Aakash Chopra over his criticism of KL Rahul.

Venkatesh Prasad is known for speaking his mind out and he never shies away from criticizing a player or the team management for any poor performance. Recently, he slammed Hardik Pandya and the Indian team management after India’s shock series loss against West Indies in the T20Is.

Venkatesh Prasad’s posts against KL Rahul have made many believe that the former cricketer has some personal grudge against the batsman. However, he has all but rubbished those speculations with his latest post for the batsman.

On Monday, he took to X to post a selfie with KL Rahul’s father-in-law and Bollywood star Suniel Shetty. The former pacer further revealed that he visited the Swami Narayan temple in New Jersey with Shetty and secretly prayed for KL Rahul’s success with the bat.

“Visited the Swami Narayan temple in New Jeresy with Anna. Prayed for well being of all Bharatvasis & for the Indian Team to do well in the World Cup. Also secretely prayed for KL to smash it to all corners, have a great world cup and silence his critics like me. Sab khush rahein,” wrore Venkatesh Prasad.

KL Rahul is all set to make his much-awaited return to action in the upcoming Asia Cup. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been named in the team for the continental championship. The right-handed batsman has not played a competitive match since injuring his thigh in May during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023.
