This will give an opportunity to someone else: Shakib Al Hasan

While speaking in the pre-match press conference, Shakib Al Hasan accepted that their absence would be a big miss in the tournament.

Shakib also talked about Liton Das and said that he has been a part of the squad for the last five years and was doing well for Bangladesh. He added that this will give an opportunity to someone who can use it.

“Of course, it (absence of veteran players) is a big miss. If you talk about Liton, he has been part of the team for the last four or five years, and he was doing consistently well for Bangladesh. But having said that this will give an opportunity to someone else and I hope they make full use of this opportunity,” Shakib Al Hasan said.

Shakib Al Hasan showed confidence in Towhid Hridoy and said that he has been doing well in the past for the national team and Hridoy’s recent performance in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be crucial in the Asia Cup 2023.

“As far as Towhid is concerned he is really playing well for us this year. He has done well in the recent LPL (Lanka Premier League) and that should give him a lot of confidence going into the Asia Cup. He is going to play for Bangladesh for a long time,” he added.

Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh will their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Sri Lanka on Thursday (August 31st) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
