Official broadcasters of Asia Cup 2023, Star Sports have announced a star-studded commentary panel for the upcoming tournament. The sixteenth edition of the continental championship will be played from August 30 to September 17 in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
While Pakistan were given the hosting rights for the competition, Sri Lanka were later picked as the neutral venue after India stated they would not visit the country because of poor bilateral relations. Pakistan will host four games including the opener on August 30 while Sri Lanka will host the other nine games of the competition.
A total of six teams will be participating in Asia Cup 2023. The six teams have been divided into two groups of three teams each. Pakistan, India, and Nepal are in Group A while Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are in Group B. Pakistan will take on Nepal in the tournament opener in Multan.
Nepal will be making their debut in the Asia Cup in the upcoming edition. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4s before the top two teams make it to the final.
With the Asia Cup 2023 not very far away, Star Sports have announced the commentators for the competition. The panel includes nine former Indian players – Ravi Shastri, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Sanjay Bangar, Piyush Chawla, Sanjay Manjrekar, Deep Dasgupta and Mohammad Kaif. Two more players from India – Aditya Tare and Rajat Bhatia – are part of the panel too.
From Pakistan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Aamer Sohail, and Bazid Khan are on the panel. Former Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu is the sole Sri Lankan representative in the commentary panel for Asia Cup 2023. Former England bowler Dominic Cork, ex-Australia opener Matthew Hayden and former Zimbabwe batsman Andy Flower will also ply their trade as commentators during the competition.
