India Women player Shafali Verma feels that Team India will win the Asia Cup 2023 trophy. According to Shafali Verma, Team India has become stronger after the return of the injured players and this is the reason why she thinks the men-in-blue will win the tournament.

India squad for Asia Cup 2023 was announced on Monday (August 21). Injured players like Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have made a return to the Indian team. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who were out of the field for a long time due to injuries, are also part of Asia Cup 2023.

Team India Looks Very Strong- Shafali Verma

During a conversation with ANI, Shafali Verma said that Team India has now become very strong with the return of injured players. Hence, she thinks India will win Asia Cup 2023.

“The team looks very strong. All those who were missing owing to injuries are making a comeback. So, I think Team India has become very strong. So, I think they will win,” the opening batter said.

Indian Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been handed a two-match ban for misbehaving with umpires during an ODI match against Bangladesh Women last month. She will miss two games in Asian Games 2023 later.

Recently, Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her views on the matter, saying that she did not regret her actions. When Shafali Verma was asked about Kaur’s views, she said that India Women Team always believes in working hard.

“I can’t say about Harmanpreet Kaur….but as a team, we are always just thinking of doing well for the Indian team, for our country. Sometimes we will go up or down. But we can work hard anytime so we are just believing in working hard. That is what we are thinking,” the 19-year-old player said.

Meanwhile, Asia Cup 2023 begins on August 30. Indian team will undergo a camp at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru ahead of the tournament. They will later travel to Sri Lanka to play their opening game against Pakistan on September 2. The encounter takes place in Pallekele, Sri Lanka.

India is part of Group A with Pakistan and Nepal in their pool. Group B comprises Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka and Pakistan are co-hosts of Asia Cup 2023.
