India National Cricket Team modern-day batting great Virat Kohli has hit back at his critics, saying that one needs to have trust and confidence in his abilities to shine as people always have opinions and judgments about others.
Kohli was recently seen in action on India’s tour of the West Indies 2023. He batted exceptionally well in the two-Test innings as he registered scores of 76 and 121. The 34-year-old was also part of ODIs against the Men In Maroon, but he featured only in the first game where he didn’t bat and was rested for the remainder of the series.
During a recent interaction, Kohli said that he keeps pushing himself forward irrespective of how difficult the circumstances are.
“But what has truly defined me as a person is my ability to stay resilient and keep pushing forward, no matter how difficult the circumstances,” Kohli told The Indian Express.
Virat Kohli added that he has a lot of self-belief and is not bothered by the opinions and judgments of critics.
“People will always have opinions and judgments, but I have learned to trust my instincts and have confidence in my abilities. This self-belief has been the driving force behind all my achievements on the cricket field.”

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli further said that he draws inspiration from his past performances to grow as a player and every setback is an opportunity for him to come back stronger.
“This self-belief helps me stay positive and focused on improving my game… I draw inspiration from my past successes and learnings. Reflecting on the moments when I performed at my best and analyzing the areas where I can improve from losses, helps me grow as a player. Every setback becomes an opportunity for me to come back stronger,” he added.
Virat Kohli, who is regarded as one of the fittest athletes in the world, also talked about his training routines. He said:
“When it comes to training, I believe in pushing myself to the limit. I engage in a combination of strength training, agility drills, and endurance exercises. It’s all about building a strong foundation to handle the challenges of the game and stay injury-free,” he explained. Of course, rest and recovery are equally crucial. Giving my body enough time to recover from intense training sessions is essential for peak performance. So, I make sure to get enough sleep and listen to my body’s needs.”
With two major tournaments in Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 approaching, the expectations are very high from the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli to deliver match-winning performances for Team India.
