Young Pakistan player, Abdullah Shafique took a jibe at Indian Cricket after a reporter questioned him regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the Men in Blues’ squad ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 when the 23-year-old Pakistani player said that they face Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Haris in nets.

Ajit Agarkar-led Indian selection committee is yet to announce the Men in Blues squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. It is being said that the selection committee will face many difficulties while making the squad since the team is going through injury problems.

India starters like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul have all gone through surgery due to injuries but the players have started to practice however there is still no official confirmation of when they will get the fit certificates from NCA.

Jasprit Bumrah, who was out of the Indian squad for almost 10 months has returned to the Men in Blues squad for their tour in Ireland. His comeback to the squad has been crucial to strengthen the bowling attack and is likely to be named in the Asia Cup 2023 squad.

In the Ireland series, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Men in Blues in the three-game T20I series and will become the first bowler to lead the Indian team in a 20-over cricket format.

Since it looks like Jasprit Bumrah is also coming back…: Reporter questioned Abdullah Shafique

The reporter asked Abdullah Shafique whether it is easy to face opposition bowlers since they practice against Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Haris.

The reporter also tricked his question and added that Jasprit Bumrah has become fit and is likely to be included in the Asia Cup squad.

“You face Haris, Naseem, Shaheen in the nets all the time during practice sessions. Do you find it easy when you take on the opposition bowlers then? Particularly if you talk about India… since it looks like Jasprit Bumrah is also coming back for Asia Cup,” a reporter asked the 23-year-old Pakistani player.

However, the youngster did not comment on Jasprit Bumrah but praised the Pakistani bowling attack and said that their bowling attack has been good and that it helps to build confidence to face opposition bowlers since they play Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Haris in the nets.

“Our bowling attack is pretty good, in fact, the best in the world. We face them (Shaheen, Haris, Naseem) in the nets… we face their challenging spells. And that gives us a lot of confidence and helps in our preparation. If we are playing good against them, we are obviously more confident against opponent bowlers,” Abdullah Shafique replied.

India will start their Asia Cup 2023 journey against Pakistan on September 2nd and the match will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
