The Asia Cup 2025 will commence India's preparation for next year's T20 World Cup to be played in India and Sri Lanka. The Indian squad for the Asia Cup has raised a few eyebrows.

Questions are being raised regarding the selection of certain players, who might not have found a place in the team had the team management been a bit different in terms of personnel. This article talks about three players who don't deserve a spot in India squad for Asia Cup 2025.

3. Harshit Rana

India made a couple of surprising calls in the bowling department with the inclusion of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana in the fifteen-member Asia Cup 2025 squad, with the decision to include the latter bringing heavy criticism.

Harshit Rana, who has played just one T20I for India, was picked up ahead of Prasidh Krishna, who was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2025 and is coming on the back of a decent performance in the last Test against England.

As far as Harshit Rana's performance in the 2025 season of the league is concerned, he conceded runs at an economy of more than 10 and picked up 15 wickets in 13 matches.

Krishna would have been a better option than Rana, given that he has more experience of playing T20I cricket for India, as compared to Harshit Rana, who has featured in just one T20I for the country.

2. Shivam Dube

India's squad for the Asia Cup 2025 is filled with several all-rounders, starting at the top with Abhishek Sharna, who is a handy spinner, followed by another batting all-rounder, Shivam Dube.

One can understand the rationale behind Dube's inclusion, as his main job would be taking on the spinners in the middle overs and chipping in with an over or two.

Having said that, the main problem is with Dube's consistency. The left-hander has been found wanting against the short ball, and teams now usually don't bowl spin to him and instead bring their fast bowlers.

As far as Dube's bowling is concerned, he can prove to be expensive, which makes the captain hesitant when it comes to bowling him in the match, and to add to that, he hasn't bowled a great deal in international cricket either.

Shreyas Iyer would have been a more accurate choice them Dube at number five, where Dube is expected to bat to negate the threat of spin.

1. Shubman Gill

India's vice-captain in the Asia Cup 2025, Shubman Gill, has been rewarded for his good performance in the Test series against England with a place in the Asia Cup squad, which is what the common notion is among the fans, at least.

There is one other faction of fans that thinks that the management wants to groom Gill as the captain of the team in all three formats, and that is the reason why he is being given an extended run.

The above-mentioned information is backed by the fact that some not-so-impressive numbers that Gill possesses as compared to Jaiswal in T20Is.

Yes, both players have a T20I hundred to their name, but Gill hasn't been able to build on that big score, which he got against New Zealand.
