The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to begin in less than a month's time, and India's squad for the multination tournament has been announced. This article sheds light on the number of players selected from each IPL team.
Asia Cup 2025 India Squad- IPL Team-Wise List Of Selected Players
Mumbai Indians- 4
Mumbai Indians are the IPL team that has the most number of its players in India's squad for the 2025 Asia Cup. A total of four players have been picked up in the defending champion's squad for the eight-team tournament.
4. Tilak Varma
Promising left-handed batter Tilak Varma has been rewarded for his consistent run of good performances in the T20I format for India, which includes back-to-back centuries against South Africa last year.
3. Hardik Pandya
Fast bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also found a place in the 15-member squad and will also be a part of the leadership group, along with providing balance to the team.
Pandya is expected to bat at number five or six and chip in with an over or two, or even bowl his full quota of four overs when required.
2. Jasprit Bumrah
India's fast bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, has also been picked after it was speculated that the former Test captain of India might be rested for this particular tournament to manage his workload.
Having said that, there is a high possibility that Bumrah might not play each game in the competition, and the team management might rotate the three specialist fast bowlers present in the squad.
1. Suryakumar Yadav
India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav will look to lead from the front in the upcoming tournament as India aims to defend its title.
Surya will also hope to start the tournament on a positive note individually and get some runs under his belt, as he hasn't been able to make a major contribution since being appointed as the full-time captain of India in T20I cricket.
Surya, the captain, will lead the team for the first time in a multiteam tournament and wants the team to rally behind him and every individual to put their best foot forward in an important assignment before the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Kolkata Knight Riders- 3
The 2024 IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, also have three representatives in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025.
3. Rinku Singh
Like Bumrah, there were speculations of Rinku Singh not being a part of the team for the Asia Cup 2025, but all that has been put to rest as the left-hander has been included in the squad for the tournament to be played in the UAE.
Rinku has grabbed most of the opportunities that he has got in T20I cricket and will look to do the same in the Asia Cup.
However, the aggressive batter might find it hard to get a game, as it is understood that the team management is looking at Rinku as a backup batter, which means he might warm the bench for the better part of the tournament.
2. Varun Chakaravarthy
Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, who has had a new lease of life in international cricket, has made the most of the chances he has had in white ball cricket in the last year or so.
Chakarvarthy is expected to feature in all the Asia Cup 2025 games that India play as one of the two spinners along with Axar Patel, with Kuldeep Yadav being the third spin bowling option, who might get a game or two depending on the conditions.
The reason for that is that playing all three spinners together would mean going with only one specialist fast bowler, as India prefers batting at least till number eight, and picking all three spinners will eliminate that option.
1. Harshit Rana
Many experts may not have expected Harshit Rana to be picked in the Asia Cup 2025 squad, as he has played only one T20I for India so far.
But, going by the way head coach Gautum Gambhir has backed the fast bowler, there was a good chance of Harshit being preferred over Siraj, who has just been a part of a long five-match Test series against England.
Delhi Capitals- 2
A couple of Delhi Capitals players have also been picked to play for India in the eight-team tournament.
2. Kuldeep Yadav
The left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is one of the Delhi Capitals players who finds a place in the Asia Cup 2025 squad of 15. The experienced spinner would look to deliver a solid performance if he gets a chance to play at any point in the competition.
1. Axar Patel
Axar Patel, who was India's vice-captain in the last T20I series that India played against England earlier this year, is also a part of the squad for the Asia Cup 2025 and will look to put in a strong performance.
Axar might take the new ball and bowl in the first six overs like he often does in this format of the game.
Sunrisers Hyderabad- 1
The 2024 IPL runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad, will be represented by Abhishek Sharma in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
1. Abhishek Sharma
The number one T20I batter in the world at the moment, Abhishek Sharma, will, in all certainty, open the batting for India and would want to play his natural game when the field restrictions are in place.
Rajasthan Royals- 1
Rajasthan Royals have been in the news for the past few weeks courtesy of their current captain, Sanju Samson, who is one of the two wicketkeepers in India's squad for the Asia Cup.
1. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson will face fierce competition from Jitesh Sharma for the role of wicketkeeper batter who is expected to bat in the middle order as India's top order looks to be sorted.
Chennai Super Kings- 1
One of the most successful IPL teams, Chennai Super Kings, has one player in the Asia Cup 2025 squad picked by the Indian selectors for the Asia Cup in the form of Shaivam Dube.
1. Shivam Dube
The batting all-rounder is expected to play a vital role in the middle order to tackle the opposition spinners and act as a backup for Hardik Pandya.
Gujarat Titans- 1
One of the most talked-about players before and after the squad selection, Shubman Gill, will represent the Gujarat Titans.
1. Shubman Gill
India's vice-captain for the Asia Cup 2025 would want to prove his credentials in T20I cricket as well, having done so in the recently concluded five-match Test series against England in England.
Royal Challengers Bangalore- 1
Jitesh Sharma, who had a good IPL season with RCB as a wicketkeeper-batter, will look to replicate the same in the upcoming tournament.
1. Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh will most probably get the nod ahead of Sanju Samson in Asia Cup 2025 because of his big-hitting abilities in the final five overs, and the right-hander would hope to make the most of the second chance he has got, having made his debut in 2023.
Punjab Kings- 1
Punjab Kings could have had two of their players in the squad for the Asia Cup, but as things stand, the team will be represented by Arshdeep Singh only.
1. Arshdeep Singh
The highest wicket-taker for India in T20I cricket, Arshdeep Singh, is assured to get a place in the Asia Cup 2025 team after his performance with the ball since his debut in this format.
Having said that, it would be interesting to see if Arshdeep is the first-choice pacer for the Gautam Gambhir-led team management, with the presence of Bumrah in the squad, if they decide to go in with only one specialist fast bowler.
