The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remain silent on the India vs Pakistan clash in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, but former Indian cricketers have been strongly demanding the cancellation of the game in the wake of Operation Sindoor.

India has been placed in Group A alongside Oman, UAE, and Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. The blockbuster India vs Pakistan clash is scheduled for September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Calls grow to cancel India vs Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2025

But questions have been raised over whether the India vs Pakistan game will even take place, especially after Operation Sindoor against the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 innocents earlier this year. This led to a brief armed war between India and Pakistan in May 2025.

Recently, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh had already said that India should not play Pakistan, stressing that the nation must always come before cricket. Now, former India cricketer and BJP leader Kedar Jadhav has added fuel to the India vs Pakistan fire with an explosive statement.

Kedar Jadhav demands a boycott of the Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2025

Jadhav made it clear that India should completely boycott the India vs Pakistan game. The former all-rounder has pointed out that wherever India plays, they beat Pakistan, but he feels the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 India vs Pakistan contest should not happen at all. He even mentioned Operation Sindoor.

Kedar Jadhav was quoted as saying by ANI, “I think the Indian team should not play at all. As far as India is concerned, I think that wherever India plays, it will always win, but this match should not be played at all, and they will not play. I can say this with confidence... Operation Sindoor is a hit; it is successful...”

Kedar Jadhav's cricket career

Notably, Kedar Jadhav made his India debut in 2014 during an ODI against Sri Lanka, and a year later, he made his T20I debut. His last international appearance in the national jersey came in an ODI against New Zealand at Auckland in 2020.

In his six-year-long international career, Jadhav scored 1,389 runs in 73 ODIs and 122 runs in nine T20Is. Apart from his batting, Kedar’s low-arm and unorthodox bowling action left many stunned. He has 27 wickets in ODI cricket to his name.

He was part of India’s Asia Cup-winning side in 2018 and represented the country in the ICC tournaments like the 2019 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy.

Additionally, Jadhav represented Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He also lifted the IPL trophy with CSK in 2018.

BCCI to announce Asia Cup 2025 squad on August 19

On the other hand, the BCCI is all set to announce India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 on Tuesday, August 19, and the selectors are all set to take some shocking calls.

With Suryakumar Yadav confirmed to continue as India’s T20I captain, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel will leave out a few big names for the upcoming continental tournament.
