Pakistan's new white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, has made a massive claim, saying that Mohammad Nawaz is the best spinner in the world. Hesson added that Nawaz makes their spin-bowling unit a very impressive pack for the Asia Cup 2025.

Pakistan have made some tough calls before the Asia Cup campaign started. They have dropped their most veteran batters, Mohammed Rizwan and Babar Azam. On the other hand, they have also dropped Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan from the squad.

New head coach Mike Hesson has come up with the challenge to revive the fortunes of Pakistan in international cricket, and he has sidelined several greats of the game to name a Pakistan spinner as the current best in the world.

Mohammad Nawaz claimed to be the finest spinner in the world by Mike Hesson

All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz, the left-arm spinner, was the hero of Pakistan's win against Afghanistan in the final of the tri-series, which featured the two teams alongside the UAE. He has hence been claimed as the best current spinner across the world.

Nawaz has played in 71 T20 internationals for Pakistan and has made some memorable contributions to the team's limited success in the shortest format of the game. He has picked 70 wickets in the format while also amassing 638 runs with a blistering strike rate.

Recently, he picked up a stunning 5-for against Afghanistan, which won the match for Pakistan in such a small chase. Nawaz was also Pakistan's second-highest run getter with 25 runs.

Pakistan go into the Asia Cup 2025 with 5 lead spinners

Pakistan's squad for the Asia Cup 2025 looks relatively inexperienced, with the new skipper, Salman Agha, also leading for the first time in a multinational tournament. They have left out their senior advisors from the team.

However, Pakistan, considering the spin-favouring tracks of the UAE, have picked 3 lead spinners in the side alongside a bunch of part-timers. Mohammad Nawaz, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Abrar Ahmed are among the lead spinners. Skipper Salman Agha, Khusdil Shah, and Saim Ayub have all been seen rolling their hands in bilaterals for Pakistan.

Pakistan coach Mike Hesson has said, "The beauty of our side is we've got five spinners. Muhammad Nawaz is the best spin bowler right now in the world."

Can India dominate Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium?

India played their first game at the Dubai International Stadium, a ground that is loved by Indian fans, since they won the iconic 2025 ICC Champions Trophy at this venue. The Men in Blue remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.

India, in the Asia Cup 2025 opener, also went in with three lead spinners, and Kuldeep Yadav's carnage seemed unforgettable. With Pakistan players also troubled by the Afghan spinners, will India be able to dominate under spin-favouring conditions?

Pakistan, on the other hand, have also shown clear indications of having a surplus of spinners in the side. However, whether Indian batters would be intimidated by them or not remains a thing to watch out for.
