The cancelled World Championship of Legends fixture between India and Pakistan takes a new turn, as the Pakistan Champions refused to share equal match points with the India Champions after their match was cancelled on Sunday.

There has been so much drama in the last month of international cricket; the fever has now spread in franchise cricket as well. The World Championship of Legends features former cricketers from various nations in an engaging contest of T20 cricket.

However, this time around, the defending champions are the India Champions, who decided to pull out of a fixture against Pakistan in the tournament. According to the reports, several Indian players withdrew their participation from the much-anticipated game.

Hours later, there was an official confirmation made by the WCL authorities as they cancelled the match and issued an apology for "unintentionally causing discomfort" to Indian players.

Pakistan Legends refuse to share equal points in WCL

According to several reports, the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and the Pathan Brothers had refused to be part of the game against Pakistan. However, Shikhar Dhawan remained the only player to have taken a more official approach towards conveying his thoughts to the WCL authorities.

The Indian players' refusal came in the aftermath of the Pahalgam Valley attack and the counterattack launched by the Indian government, which they named Operation Sindoor.

Some reports also claimed that Shahid Afridi's derogatory remarks on the Indian Army were one of the core reasons Indian players withdrew from playing against Pakistan.

According to reports from ANI, the WCL authorities explained to ECB why the match had to be cancelled, and further reported that Pakistan seemed unhappy when they were asked to share the two points with India.

From the Pakistan Champions' point of view, they should be awarded the full points, as it was India who backed out of the match.

"WCL have conveyed to England and Wales Cricket Board that they, as organisers, were not able to conduct this match. The India Champions team are not at fault. Pakistan Champions team are not willing to share points because they are saying that it is India who backed out, not them." WCL sources said to ANI.

WCL authorities to decide on further matches if a knockout scenario arises

Earlier, after the cancellation of the match, Pakistan Champions team owner Kamil Khan made a similar statement; he urged the full points to be awarded to his team.

He also confirmed that, for now, there won't be any further changes made in the schedule; however, if Pakistan and India both reach the knockouts, then that would be another point of discussion between the WCL authorities.

"If we reach the final, then the decisions regarding that will be made then. And as for this match, the two points will be awarded to us, and we deserve those points as per the rules," said Kamil.

Asia Cup 2025: Uncertainty continues despite so much drama

Despite all this drama between the two nations, neither India nor Pakistan made any official claim to take their names off the Asia Cup 2025 campaign. Both these teams are constantly in disagreement over the Asia Cup 2025.

India is the host for the Asia Cup 2025; however, citing the former agreement with Pakistan, they would have to schedule Pakistan's matches at some neutral venue, and the UAE seemed in line for the Asia Cup 2025.

But since the Asian Cricket Council, currently headed by PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, disregarded India's plea to organise the Annual General Meeting outside the previously decided venue of Dhaka for Asia Cup 2025, BCCI has remained stubborn on not attending the meet, hence throwing the Asia Cup 2025 into a muddle.
