Asia Cup 2025- Pakistan Cricket Team's finances cut from ICC
PC: X

PCB has decided to cut short their expenses by ruling out the rule to give 3% shares of ICC earnings to the players and has also questioned the payment of a portion of the sponsorship earnings to the Pakistan National players, despite already having a load of money through central contracts. Such warnings surface just ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.

The Pakistan National Cricket team is currently undergoing massive turmoil on the international stage, and their hefty payments to national cricketers have come under the spotlight. It also has a buzz that this year's central contract would be the last of its kind, featuring a 3% share of the ICC revenues.

As far as recent performances are concerned, Pakistan has been very disappointing, losing the last two of their 3 Tests, nine of their 11 ODIs, and just seven of their 14 T20 international matches. Currently, they have slipped to 7th in Test rankings, 8th in the T20I, and 5th in the ODIs.

PCB issues financial bulletin ahead of the Asia Cup 2025

Around two years ago, the senior cricketers had pressured the then chairman of the management committee to agree for the first time in history to give national team players a 3% share of ICC revenue in a financial year. As per reports, legal complications have restricted them from ending this arrangement; however, this is probably the last time it will be included in the renewed contracts.

Some reports, on the other hand, have claimed that the Pakistan players have not been paid the due amount for the sponsorship logo on their shirts. The central contracts stipulate that any player donning shirts with company logos in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is will receive a portion of the earnings made from the sponsorships.

These claims have stated that for around 7 months, such payments have not been cleared, while the PCB has stated otherwise, claiming that all payments of such payments have been cleared with the renewed central contracts. However, no other board provides players with any such portions of profit.

PCB increases budget to hold on to match fees and salaries for 2025-26 central contracts

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly increased its budget just at the stroke of the commencement of the Asia Cup. They have reportedly increased the budget for retainership expenses by 37%, which is around 319 million rupees.

This addition would take the total to around 1,173.49 million rupees, while this increase suggests that the earlier understanding from two years ago means that in the 2025–26 contracts, the match fees and monthly salaries will remain unchanged.

Match Fees for all 4 categories of Pakistan Cricketers

The match fees for the Pakistan players bound to the central contract have been divided into four categories, from A to D. Test match: 1,257,795 rupees, ODI match: 644,620 rupees, and T20 match: 418,584 rupees are the official amounts.

For Category A, 4.5 million rupees in monthly money is received in central contracts, plus 2.07 million rupees from the ICC share, bringing the total to around 6.57 million rupees per month.

For Category B, 3 million rupees in monthly money is received in central contracts, plus 1.5525 million rupees from the ICC share, bringing the total to around 4.5525 million rupees per month.

For Category C, 1 million rupees in monthly money is received in central contract,s plus 1.035 million rupees from the ICC share, bringing the total to around 2.035 million rupees per month.

For Category D, 750,000 rupees in monthly money is received in central contracts, plus 517,500 rupees from the ICC share, bringing the total to around 1.2675 million rupees per month.
