Sony Sports Network has released its poster for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in the shortest format of the game. Scheduled to be played later this year, the tournament marks the inclusion of teams across the Asian continent.
The poster featured captains of major sides in contention for the Asian tournament, including Suryakumar Yadav—the Indian skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto—the Bangladesh captain, and Charith Asalanka—the Sri Lankan captain.
India and Pakistan engaged in an intense cross-border altercation in May 2025, which caused immense diplomatic tensions between the two neighbouring nations. Every cricket fanatic was strongly against the idea of pitting Pakistan in cricket tournaments as well.
Reports claimed speculations over Pakistan's exclusion from the Asia Cup
Speculations from Express Sports had earlier suggested that there was a doubt over India and Pakistan's participation in the Asia Cup after the major conflict between the two nations.
A rumour was also circulated between social media channels that India, being a major power in the world of cricket, could influence cricket boards to resist Pakistan's participation.
However, before such claims were made, Forbes India stated that India would play in the Asian tournament alongside Pakistan and would have to shift the venue of the tournament out of India to the United Arab Emirates.

Sony Sports raises further doubt over Pakistan's Asia Cup participation
Sony Sports is the official broadcaster of the upcoming Asia Cup, and recently, they have released a poster for the upcoming event. The social media post seemed cryptic as it stirred huge speculation about Pakistan's probable exit from the Asia Cup 2025.
The promotional poster of the event did not feature the Pakistan captain, and hence, this has led to widespread outrage as well as confusion among cricket fans. Though Star Sports might not have issued an official confirmation yet, this might be cited as a negative promotional campaign as well.

India won the 2023 edition
India featured in the last Asian Competition back in 2023, which was played in the longer white-ball format of the game. It was held back in September 2023 when India and Pakistan were placed in the same group.
Placed alongside Pakistan and Nepal, India advanced to the Super Four after having defeated Nepal, and the match against Pakistan ended in a draw due to rain. In the Super Four games, Pakistan faced a thrashing defeat from arch-rivals India.
The men in blue next went on to put on an irresistible display in front of the Sri Lankan side and qualified for the finals despite losing a game to Bangladesh.
The finals of 2023, marked a stellar show from Indian pace sensation Mohammed Siraj as the bowler picked 6 wickets to tear through the Sri Lankan batting attack, thus dismissing them for just 50 runs. India won the match comfortably by 10 wickets and won the tournament.
However, in the T20 format, the cup was played back in 2022 when India lost both their Super 4 games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka to be knocked out before the finals. This will be the chance for a new side and a new skipper to restore their lost honour in the Asia Cup T20s.
