The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has urgently called for a high-level meeting of its Board of Governors (BoG) on Thursday, July 31. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) called the emergency meeting in response to India’s decision to forfeit not just one but two matches against Pakistan in the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2025 (WCL 2025) in England.

India was set to face Pakistan first in the group stage and then in the semi-final in the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2025 (WCL 2025). However, India Champions pulled out of both matches after public outrage due to political and diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

As a result, the Pakistan Champions team has automatically advanced to the WCL 2025 Final without having to play a ball in the semi-final. Pakistan's opponent in the final will be decided after the second semi-final between Australia and South Africa.

This situation has forced many to question the impact of non-sporting factors on international events. PCB is taking the issue seriously, as it believes that repeated pullouts not only affect the spirit of the game but also Pakistan’s image in global cricket.

The PCB chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi will chair the virtual meeting, where several issues will be discussed, as reported by Cricket Pakistan.

PCB to discuss several issues in the meeting

The matters included India’s forfeiture of WCL 2025 matches and its consequences on the tournament structure, as well as the impact of politics on sports, particularly in India-Pakistan cricket matches.

Additionally, Pakistan’s response to continued isolation in multi-nation events, upcoming multi-nation tournaments like the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE and the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, hosting rights, the possibility of neutral venues, and other important issues related to international cricket will be discussed during this high-profile meeting.

The PCB is expected to review the entire situation and may release a detailed statement after the meeting. It is also being said that the Pakistan Cricket Board may approach international cricket authorities if such incidents continue in future tournaments.

India cleared to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025

On the other hand, even though India pulled out of the WCL 2025 matches, the BCCI has received approval from the Indian government to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. India might face Pakistan up to three times—once in the group stage for sure, again in the Super 4s if both teams qualify, and possibly in the final if both make it in the Asia Cup 2025.

Notably, the Pakistan National Cricket Team is currently on the Caribbean tour for the white-ball series. The Men in Green had a stunning start to their tour, thrashing the West Indies by 14 runs in the first T20I game on Friday, August 1, at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in Florida.
