After immense drama on the conductance of the Annual General Meeting of the Asian Cricket Council in Dhaka, where the BCCI and several other cricket boards refrained from participation. However, after some understanding with the ACC, all agreed to be a part of the meeting.
The BCCI officials who had cited security concerns about travelling to Dhaka under the current political scenario also attended the meeting, as they were among the teams who joined it online.
One of the major concerns of discussion in this annual general meeting was the upcoming Asia Cup, and the BCCI's involvement was compulsory for the discussion since they are the official hosts of the competition.
However, it has been confirmed that the Asia Cup 2025 will be played in September, and a total of 8 teams will participate in the multi-team continental championship. The UAE is also the most likely neutral venue to host the matches of Pakistan in the tournament.
ACC to officially confirm Asia Cup 2025 in the next meeting
The Asian Cricket Council is currently headed by the Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi; hence, lately, none of India's proposals or approaches have been agreed upon or paid heed to by the ACC.
Though the Annual General Meeting marked India's presence through the online platform, that was not enough for them to make any formal decision on the Asia Cup 2025. They have given the nod to the continental championship, but it will only be confirmed after the other meeting, which has been scheduled by the ACC within the next two weeks.
The meeting would mark the possible presence of the BCCI officials in person, and hence, the official confirmation on the Asia Cup 2025 shall be made under the supervision of the ACC, as reported by Dainik Jagran's Abhishek Tripathi.

India to resume white-ball action with Asia Cup
White-ball cricket is yet to be resumed by India, as they last played with the white ball back in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in February. All the Indian players have been busy with franchise cricket, followed by the red-ball tour to England.
India was supposed to play a white-ball series against Bangladesh in this August window, that is, before the start of the Asia Cup 2025. However, citing the current geopolitical situation and the relations between the two nations, the bilateral series has been postponed for over a year.
Hence, the Indian white-ball players are supposed to return to the field only from the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.

The England Cricket Board has revealed the calendar for their upcoming summer in 2026, which looks very hectic with back-to-back cricket action. However, what seems interesting is that India will travel to England during the same time of the year as this year and star in a long white-ball series.
India and England will play in 5 T20I matches and 3 ODI matches across 8 different venues during the first three weeks of July 2026.
