Asian Games 2023: Twitter Erupts As Team India Win Historic Gold Medal In Cricket At Asian Games

Fans on X were delighted after the Indian Cricket Team won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023. The match was called off due to the rain at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou but they were crowned the winners of the tournament with the way they played throughout. 

India won the toss and opted to field first. They were all over the Afghanistan batters and reduced them to 52/5. Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Ravi Bishnoi bowled exceptionally well and put the opposition batters under tremendous pressure. 

With the team tumbling at 52/5, Shahidullah Kamal (49*) and Gulbadin Naib (27*) led the rescue charge for their team and batted beautifully. They added unbeaten 60 runs before rain played the spoilsport and umpires called the game off. The first innings saw 18.2 overs being bowled only. It was expected that we would get the full game but the rain got worse.

The Men In Blue displayed a magnificent performance in the tournament. They first thumped Nepal in the first game that they played by 23 runs to qualify for the semi-finals. If this was not enough they then defeated Bangladesh by 9 wickets in the semi-final to reach the final. 

India were extremely dominant in the tournament as they played a high brand of cricket. As they won the gold medal, the players were jubilant and celebrated their win. The Indian flag was rising high and with this win, they completed 27 gold medals in the Asian Games 2023. 

Speaking at the press conference, all-format captain Rohit Sharma, who is leading the side in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, reacted to the Gold Medal win in the Asian Games, saying:

“We could never win a gold for India but our men’s and women’s team did it. It’s a great feeling and congratulations to everyone involved.”
