Asif Hossain, Bengal cricketer, passes away aged 28 after falling from stairs

In a tragic incident, Asif Hossain, a young cricketer from Bengal, passed away aged 28. The cricketer died on Monday night (September 30), leaving the Bengal cricket community, his family, and friends in utter shock and grief.

Hossain succumbed to the injuries that he sustained after falling down the stairs at his own house. According to his family, the cricketer was in good health before the accident. After the accident, he was immediately rushed to a well-known private hospital in Kolkata.

However, the doctors declared Hossain dead after arrival, according to a report in India Today. Everyone related to the cricketer is unable to cope with the tragedy. Friends and family members are finding it tough to comprehend how a young life could be cut short so abruptly.

Asif Hossain's cricketing career:

Even though Hossain was yet to represent the senior Bengal team, he was quite popular in the cricketing fraternity thanks to his dedication for the game. A talented batsman, Asif Hossain represented various age groups in Bengal cricket.

He was working hard to realize his dream of playing for the Bengal team. Earlier this year, he showed his potential by playing a brilliant knock of 99 runs during a match in the Bengal T20 League. He had also penned a deal with Sporting Union in the first division of club cricket earlier this year. The contract from Sporting Union was a big step towards Asif Hossain's ambition of making it to the senior Bengal team.

However, his inspirational journey came to an end on Monday in the most unexpected manner. His family is devastated and completely shattered by the tragic loss of their beloved son.

Cricketers from the state have paid their condolences. They have been mourning the loss of the talented batsman. On Tuesday, the Bengal senior men’s team observed a minute's silence at the start of their practice session.
