Former England skipper Eoin Morgan has hailed the level of cricket at display in the ongoing Ashes series between England and Australia. The series is already being compared by many with the iconic Ashes series of 2005 which is widely regarded as the best Test series of all time.

The exhilarating contest on the field and the verbal war between the two cricket fraternities off the field has made the ongoing series one of the best in recent years. All of the games in the series so far have yielded results while none of them were one-sided.

Australia won the first Test by two wickets after being reduced to 227 for 8 while chasing 281. In the second Test, Ben Stokes played a heroic knock of 155 runs to put England on the verge of a historic win but the visitors managed to survive the huge scare and won it by 43 runs to go 2-0 up in the five-match series.

With the series on the line, England came up with a brilliant performance in the third Test and won it by three wickets. The series is now set for a grand finish. While Australia are on the verge of winning their first-ever Ashes series in England since 2001, the hosts would be looking to make the most of the momentum and win their first Ashes series since 2015.

Eoin Morgan in awe of Ashes 2024:

With England and Australia displaying stunning level of cricket in the ongoing series, Eoin Morgan has admitted that he is in awe of the series. The World Cup-winning skipper lavished praise on players from both the teams for their performance in the series so far.

“It’s unbelievable. The twists and turns we’ve seen throughout every session of every day have been really remarkable. Can’t remember a series like this,” Eoin Morgan told Sky Sports. “But this is different. This is excellence from both teams going toe to toe for as long as they have.”

The fourth Test is scheduled to be played from June 19 in Manchester. England need to win the game at any cost to keep the series alive.
