England Cricket Team have announced the playing XI for the final Test of the Ashes 2023 slated to take place at The Oval London from 27th July. The Ben Stokes-led have named the same team from the Manchester Test, which got washed away due to rain and saw Australia retaining the Ashes.
Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley will continue opening the innings and would be looking to provide another great start to the team. The right-hander in particular was exceptional in the last game as he scored 189 runs and put his side in the dominating position.
Moeen Ali has been slotted at No.3 yet again and it’s fair to say that he has earned the position after he smashed a blistering half-century in the last game. Joe Root and Harry Brook, who have been England’s backbone in this series will continue batting at No. 4 and 5 respectively.
Skipper Ben Stokes along with Jonny Bairstow, who played fiery knocks in the Manchester would want to replicate the same in the Oval. Chris Woakes and Mark Wood, who have changed the fortunes of England ever since joining the team have retained their places.
There was a big question mark over the selection of James Anderson in the team because of his poor form in the series. But England have backed him for the final game and he will partner Stuart Broad, who has been the team’s best bowler in the series.
