England pacer Stuart Broad revealed his most horrific moment in the Ashes. He recalled that playing against Mitchell Johnson during the 2013-14 Ashes series was the worst part of his career against Australia.
From getting hit to 6 sixes to taking 600 Test wickets, Stuart Broad is arguably one of the best pacers in the longest format of the game. He called his retirement during the ongoing last Test of the Ashes 2023, saying that he wanted to end his career against Australia.
What Stuart Broad has achieved in his career is something that many dream of. The lanky pacer has always been at his best when it comes to Tests against Australia as he has bowled some remarkable spells. His best figures of 8/15 are also against the same opposition.

But according to him, he had a nightmare moment in his career against Australia. Stuart Broad touted batting against Mitchell Johnson at the Gabba in Brisbane in 2013-14 as his worst moment.
Stuart Broad said that he has enjoyed playing against Australia and revealed that England’s struggle to win Ashes urged him to play cricket and he wanted to be part of the team that could win against Australia.
“I can promise you every single time I’ve run in with a ball in my hand against Australia, they’ve been there. It does make me feel proud to have 150 Test wickets against the Aussies and to be in that category with Warney and Glenn [McGrath] above. I have loved every minute against Australia, for sure – apart from Mitchell Johnson bowling at Brisbane, which was horrific.
“I think there’s something in my family history with Ashes cricket. I grew up from such a young age just being besotted by it. Ultimately, my influential years as a kid playing cricket, we weren’t winning many Ashes Tests and that grew my hunger and desire to want to be part of a team that could win against Australia.”

Stuart Broad further went on to say that he has loved eye-to-eye battles with the Australian team and that playing against them brings the best out of him. He elaborated:
“Ultimately I think the competitiveness of what Australia bring to cricket brings out the best in me. I love that eye-to-eye battle. I love the energy the crowd brings, the battle and rivalry, and I know my emotions have to be sky-high for me to be a good bowler and my competitive spirit has to be sky-high.”
Stuart Broad made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in December 2007 and is the second-highest wicket-taker in terms of fast bowlers in Test cricket. He is just 5th bowler in the history of Test cricket with 600 wickets to his name.
