AUS vs ENG: "This Is Going To Be...."- Ollie Robinson Recalls Stuart Broad's Last Words Before Retirement

Ollie Robinson played three of the five Ashes Tests alongside Stuart Broad and played his part in England earning a 2-2 draw against Australia. Broad finished the series with 22 wickets while Robinson took 10.

Stuart Broad announced his international retirement after England won the fifth and final Test match at the Oval. He ended his career with 604 Test wickets and picked up over 1000 Test wickets alongside his mate James Anderson.

In his column for Wisden, Ollie Robinson looked back on England’s win at The Oval and also wrote about his friendship with Stuart Broad.

“Everyone was on edge with the rain over the last two days, we were desperate to draw the series and give Broady the farewell he deserved. Once we started so quickly on the Monday we felt like we were always going to get the job done and it was just amazing to send a legend of the game off in that way,” said Robinson on England’s win.

He next wrote about how Broad revealed his retirement news to his teammates saying  “He started his retirement chat saying, ‘It’s been a long time serving so many of you boys playing Pig,’ and I think a few lads were thinking, ‘What is going on here?’ and then he said, ‘This is going to be my last game of cricket,” the England pacer further wrote.

Stuart Broad Cares About Efforts You Put In: Ollie Robinson

Robinson concluded his column by writing about his friendship with the former England pacer. He said how Broad made himself available for his teammates to have any kind of conversation with him.

“Broady is someone that you might not see as the most emotional character but you know that he cares about you because of the effort he puts in. I spoke to him about a few things; we’d have a conversation and I wouldn’t hear from him, or we wouldn’t talk about it for a few days, and then he’d come back and tell me he’d be thinking about me and that he’d been thinking about the problem in a certain way,” Robinson concluded saying.
