Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting was at the receiving end on an ugly incident at The Oval on day one of the ongoing fifth Ashes Test between England and Australia.
Australia and England played out yet another thrilling day of Test. Pat Cummins finally won the toss and decided to bowl first. England made a good start with their openers adding 62 runs for the first wicket before a collapse saw them lose three wickets for just 11 runs.
It was followed by a 111-run stand between Harry Brook and Moeen Ali before the former’s dismissal led to another collapse as the hosts lost 4 wickets for 28 runs. England were eventually all out for 283. In reply, Australia were on 61 for 1 at stumps.

Ricky Ponting faces a hostile crowd:
As England and Australia players fought it out on the field, an unfortunate incident unfolded in the middle of the field with the legendary Ricky Ponting at the receiving end. The former batsman was sharing his view on the day’s proceedings as part of his duty as an analyst for Sky Sports when a few England fans decided to pelt him with grapes.
Sky Sports host Ian Ward tried to laugh off the incident, but Ricky Ponting was not at all amused. The former cricketer-turned-commentator vowed to find out the culprit, saying: “I’ve just been hit by a grape. I wouldn’t mind finding out who that was actually.”

Meanwhile, Australia have already retained the Ashes after the fourth Test ended in a draw. The visitors are now on the verge of winning their first Test series in England since 2001. A draw in the ongoing game will be enough for them to achieve an incredible victory.
